Chapter 490 Chapter 490 Maleah's p.o.V.
We waited for two weeks before we went after our next target, we needed to find out if they took the assignment elsewhere.
Last night we found out that they didn't hand it to anyone else, the Elders had discovered what they were doing and it was made know that there would not be an investigation into the identity of the Angel of Death.
Not that we are believing a word of it, but for the tbeing there is nothing else we can do. Our next target is another Alpha, but this one is a bit different from most Alphas I have ever met.
He lives a five hour drive from here, up in the mountains and even the members of his Pack barely see him. He never found a Mate and ssay that it is the reason why he keeps away from the rest of the Pack, that his Wolf is a bit uncontrollable.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtStill doesn't excuse him for buying young Pups and do with them whatever the fuck he wants.
He comes down to the Pack-house once a week, on friday night and then he spends the night there. He leaves for his own hthe following day, but no one seems to know exactly where that is and that makes this a huge challenge.
I am glad I am bringing Dad along, together we might be able to find his house and deal with him.
We leave in the late afternoon, because we don't want to arrive there during the day. Dad is looking at a map of the territory and makes notes as he compares the map to the information from one of my teams. "They did an excellent job, this explains quite a few questions I have had about the Angel of Death. I always thought that we were meticulous, but you put us to shame, Sweetheart." Dad says, his eyes still on the map.
"I read every journal from our ancestors and I learned from their mistakes. Every tI went after a target, I cup with a strategy and then I would read through the journals to see where others might have gone wrong." I say.
Every now and then one of us speaks, but most of the journey is spend in complete silence.
"We are almost there, Sweetheart." Dad says and I pull over to the side of the road to take a look at the map. Dad has mapped out the route we need to take and then we have to start searching for the Alpha's house.
I keep my senses on our surrounding area, but so far there are no patrols anywhere near us and we slowly but steadily make our way through the mountain.
"Dad, can you point out the Pack-house on the map?" I ask him through the mind- link, I am sensing something to my right and if I remember correctly the Pack- house is to my left.
His finger points at a tiny house he drew on the map and I nod my head once before I start walking again, keeping my senses wide open. I can sense more and more Wolves and Lycans, but with the Pack-house in the other direction this doesn't make sense.
The path we are following bends to the right and gesture for Dad to stop, while I slowly peek around the corner. "There are numerous Pups down there, in different ages. This is not what I was expecting, they all look so happy." I say to Dad as he looks pastat the playing Pups.
"Could this Alpha be another Jason? What do you want to do?" Dad asks, but I doubt he is really expecting an answer. I want to know why these Pups are living here and why he thought he needed to keep it a secret from his Pack? "It is best to give him a heads up." I whisper to Dad and I start to walk towards the house in the distance, no longer hiding my presence from anyone.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmIt takes us nearly thirty minutes to get down from the mountain and by that tthe Alpha is already waiting for us, the Pups have all gone back into the house.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" He growls the question in Dad's direction, but I am in charge of this assignment.
"My nis Maleah and this is my Father, Diego." I say. "Can the Pups hear us?" I ask, because I don't want the entire world to know the truth.
"No, they can't hear us. Now answer my question." He says and I gesture for him to sit down.
"I chere to kill you, because we found your non a list of buyers. We found that list on Caym's laptop, after he died that is and we assumed you bought the Pups for the sreason others did." I tell him, never taking my eyes of him.
"My Beta did, but I found out before he could hurt the first one. I tortured the answers out of of him and I have! been buying the Pups ever since, but I request untrained Pups as my Beta did. He explains and I tell him about Jaso and Tasha, how they managed to save sof the Pups. "Not quite what I had expected." The Alpha says and for a moment I just stare at him.
"What do you mean?" Dad asks and I am not sure what I expected him to say, but it wasn't this.
"Like everyone else, I always thought the Angel of Death was a male. Guess I was wrong. You must have ve quite the stomach with what you put most of your targets through." The Alpha says as he looks into my eyes. "I won't tell a living soul." I know he won't and if he ever does, he knows I will cafter him.
