Chapter 1596:
The Flynn Mansion? The place alone put her on alert. “Why? Is Linda involved again?”
“There's nothing to worry about,” Eric said quickly, already anticipating her thoughts. “I'm just going to pick up
Locke. Ernest is flying to Aradimen tonight.” He hadn’t mentioned Linda, but Hadley could read between the
lines.
“He's taking her there?” she asked, her voice low.
“Yes.” Eric nodded, then turned to Joy and helped her with more food. “He'll be gone for about a week, and with
Grandma on the mend in the hospital, only the servants are left at the house. | figured it'd be better to bring
Locke here—Joy will be good company for him.”
Hadley nodded slowly. “That makes sense.”
“Hadley?” Eric paused, choosing his words with care. “Would you like to cwith me?”
“Me?” Hadley blinked, clearly taken aback. “Yes,” he said, his expression earnest. “Linda’s heading to Aradimen

He didn’t want Hadley to have a farewell moment with Linda. That wasn’t what this was about. But he did want
her to witness it—to see, without doubt, that Linda was truly leaving.
Both Ernest and Eric felt the same: they owed Linda gratitude, but they also needed to draw the line. It was time
to close that chapter and move on with their own separate lives.
Hadley looked at him quietly, her gaze searching his face. She didn’t answer right away.
“Cwith me.” Eric said gently, sensing the conflict in her. “Please.” He could tell—she wanted to go, to have
skind of closure.
So he added softly, “Let’s bring Joy and go pick up Locke together. As a family.”

After a long silence, Hadley finally smiled and gave a quiet nod. “Alright.”
Joy looked up, holding her little plate. She'd heard her nmentioned. “Where are we going?” she asked.
Eric chuckled, reaching over to ruffle her hair. “After dinner, we're going to pick up Locke and bring him to stay
with us for a few days. How does that sound?”
“We're getting Locke?” Joy's eyes sparkled. “Does that mean | get to play with him every day?”
“That's right,” Eric said, amused by her enthusiasm.
“Yay!” Joy grinned, thrusting her empty small plate toward him. “Daddy, may | have smore pasta?”
“Of course,” Eric said warmly.
A maid stepped in to take Joy's plate, and Joy looked up at her earnestly. “Please hurry, thank you! | want to go
pick up Locke right after dinner!”
Eric turned to Hadley, his smile fading slightly as his gaze fell on her barely touched food. “You should hurry too,”
he said gently, his brows drawing together. Lately, her appetite had dwindled to almost nothing—she was eating
even less than Joy.
He didn’t say it aloud, but he hoped that once Linda left for Aradimen, things would shift. That Hadley would
start healing—not just in body, but in spirit.
