Chapter 750

As the car finally left the neighborhood behind and sped onto the freeway, Marguerite reluctantly turned away

from the window.

With a sigh, she closed the window, only to hear Sandra's envious voice chin: "You and Frederick really have

something special. It's like you can't stand to be apart."

Marguerite blushed at the comment, offering a shy smile before falling silent.

Sensing Marguerite's discomfort, Sandra quickly tried to divert her attention by talking about their upcoming

vacation spot.

It seemed they were heading to the beach, where they could spend the afternoon deep-sea fishing and the

evenings around a bonfire.

Sandra described the destination as a sort of paradise, but Marguerite couldn't muster any enthusiasm. Her mind

was preoccupied, and an annoying twitch in her right eye made her even more uneasy.

Turning to Sandra, she asked, "Do you have any paper?"

"What kind of paper?"

"Any kind, really. My eye won't stop twitching; | need to put something on it."

Sandra, understanding the gesture all too well, pointed towards the door. "You should find a pack of tissues in

the compartment at the bottom of the door."

Marguerite nodded and eagerly started searching. The compartment was a bit low, so she had to lean over to

reach it.

She found the tissues quickly but also spotted a note.

The writing on the note was in English, and at first glance, Marguerite recognized Maurice's handwriting!

The note simply read: "Evergreen Enclave Manor, 8 PM."

An address and a time?

Why would something Maurice wrote be in this car?

If she remembered correctly, she and Frederick had used this car to attend a birthday party the previous night.

Clutching the note, Marguerite turned to Sandra and asked, "Has anyone else used this car recently?"

Sandra looked confused. "No, it's our private vehicle, only for personal use. You and Frederick were in it last night

for the party."

"And we cback in this car last night?"

"Of course. You were out cold, and Frederick took you hearly. | saw you guys off. What's wrong?"

Marguerite shook her head, puzzled.

If Maurice hadn't been near the car, how did his note end up here?

She quickly pieced together that Frederick and Maurice must have met last night, so perhaps the note was from

Maurice to him.

But what did the address and tmean?

Marguerite couldn't figure it out, and her expression grew more troubled by the second.

Noticing her concern, Sandra tried to reassure her, "Missing him again? Don't worry, Frederick will cfor you

once he's done with work."

That comment made Marguerite think of the armored vehicles parked back in the neighborhood, and she zoned

out,

"I'm just worried about him."

Sandra immediately becalert. "Worried about what?"

Marguerite turned, took Sandra's hand, and asked, "Is it common for the Tunez Tribe to have land disputes with

other neighborhoods? Do you guys ever get into fights? When there's a fight, does the chief ask you to leave the

area?"

Sandra was clearly confused. "Land disputes? That hasn't happened in decades. Here in Veracoria, all the

neighborhoods get along just fine. We don't fight."
