Chapter 77 ~ That night
ALEX
I'm many things, but stupid is not one of them. | also know what it takes to have a
baby, and I've never touched Leah, nor have | ever kissed her.
Is she another liar?
| clench my hands into fists as | step back, feeling disgusted at women's
desperation to have anything.
"Get out of my office." | growl.
"Alex, the child is really yours." She pushes, ignoring my cold glare.
"I've never touched you Leah, it takes semen to knock someone up, and I'd know
if I placed my dick where it shouldn't be." My voice is cold even to my ears.
Leah flinches but maintains her stance. Is she dense or what?
"Remember that night?"
"What night?"
Leah sighs, looking hurt like I just slapped her. She moves behind and takes a seat on the couch.
"Remember that night when you chso angry, | tried to comfort you with my body. We were in the heat
of the moment, and | ended up getting pregnant. | couldn't tell you because Athena had just gotten pregnant
too. So | left to give birth abroad."
That's impossible.
My dick has only known and only reacts to Athena. Fuck, even after so many months she's still in my fucking
brain, drilling every thought inside me.
I hate her so much.
"I know this is not the best tto give you this news. But | couldn't do this alone. You Know my family's
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtreputation and now everyone is judgingfor having a child out of wedlock."
| let out a sharp, humorless laugh. "Your family's reputation? You think | give a damn about that right now?"
Leah winces, but | don't stop.
"You expectto believe that | slept with you, got you pregnant, and just conveniently forgot?" | step closer, my
voice low and venomous. "Do | look like a fucking idiot to you?"
Her grip on the baby tightens, but she doesn't cower. Instead, she stares at me, eyes glistening with something
between desperation and determination. "I'm not lying, Alex. That night-"
"There was no fucking night, Leah!" My voice rises, my control slipping. "I would remember if | touched you. |
would remember if | made a child with you."
Silence.
The only sound in the room is my own breathing, heavy and uneven. Leah looks down at the baby, her fingers
brushing over his tiny head.
"You were drunk," she whispers. "So fucking drunk, Alex. You barely knew your own nthat night."
Drunk.
The word claws at the edges of my mind, dragging something dark and hazy with it. | drank a lot that one night, |
won't deny that.
But drunk enough to forget sleeping with someone? Drunk enough to forget making a goddamn baby?
No.
My gut twists, screaming atthat something isn't right.
My eyes drop to the baby again. He's awake now, staring up atwith wide, green eyes. My green eyes.
No.
| swallow hard, my chest tightening as he shifts in Leah's arms, his tiny fingers curling against her shirt.
His hair is black, a stark contrast to mine and Leah's, but the shape of his nose... the sharpness of his little
jawline...
Fuck.
A cold, unfamiliar fear settles in my stomach.
"Alex," Leah's voice is barely above a whisper. "He's yours."
My pulse pounds against my skull as | take a step back, my legs unsteady
beneath me.
No.
Not possible.
But those green eyes burn into mine, forcingto face the one thing I don't want
to believe.
| move towards my desk and press on my intercom.
| keep my eyes on her as | wait for Ryan.
The door opens and he walks in looking fromto Leah, to the baby and back to me.
"Call Quinn."
"For what sir?"
"A DNA test." | keep my eyes on Leah who doesn't look the least bothered at the
fact that | just requested for a DNA test.
Is she so fucking sure?
Ryan nods and steps out without
another word, leaving the tension in the room thick enough to suffocate. Leah esn't flinch, doesn't protest. She
just sits there, calm, too calm.
| lean against my desk, crossing my arms. "You're not even going to argue?"
She exhales, shifting the baby in her arms. "Why would 1? You'll see the truth soon enough."
The confidence in her voice grates on my nerves. Either she's the best liar I've ever met, or she actually believes

Minutes stretch, the silence between us heavy. The baby gurgles softly, oblivious
to the war waging in my head.
Ryan returns quicker than | expect, Quinn right behind him.
"I heard-" lan pauses, looking fromto Leah and back to me.
I'm already angry at his ass so | don't even acknowledge him.
| push off my desk. "We need a paternity test. Now."
Quinn nods, | bet he has a gazillion questions but understands now is not the time
and | want to hit his stupid face before saying shit to him.
"I'll collect samples immediately. Results will take a few days."
Leah doesn't react, simply shifting the baby to allow Quinn to take what he needs.
| don't say another word as he does his job, my eyes locked onto Leah's face,
searching for a crack, a flinch, anything.
But she givesnothing.
"I'll stay in touch." He nods before walking out.
The moment Quinn leaves, | turn away, gripping the edge of my desk.
"You'll regret doubting me, Alex," Leah says softly as she stands from where she sat, "If you'll need to do another
test to confirm what you'll find, callanytime. But don't take too long or | might leave."
I don't look at her.
I can't.
Because if there's even a sliver of truth to her claim...
| might lose my goddamn mind.
