Chapter 431 431: Give you the stars if you asked...
With the auction coming to an end, the hall erupted in murmurs. Everyone was anxious to find out the identity of
the person bold enough to buy a necklace at a whopping sum of ten million dollars without batting an eyelid.
From the seriousness of the bid, they were certain he would have continued to bid even if it was more than ten
million.
While they couldn't help being anxious about the identity, they had a few guesses in mind.
In a moment, flashes of cameras erupted as the attendants carefully lifted the velvet bust and secured the
necklace into a glass case, preparing to deliver it to the winning cubicle.
But no matter how hard the crowd craned their necks, the buyer's identity remained shrouded in mystery.
In Davis's cubicle, with the gavel declaring him winning bid, he sighed with relief.
His face brimmed with smiles of victory as though he had just signed a trillion-dollar contract rather than lost
money. In his heart, he had undoubtedly achieved an undeniable feat.
"Arrange for it to be delivered" he instructed calmly "and confirm it properly to see it wasn't tampered with."
Though the Clarence House had always been known for its reputation, yet he wouldn't want any mishap or risk
any form of damage due to handling.
"Yes sir," Ethan answered. He turned around and made his way out of the cubicle to handle the task.
Davis pulled out his phone. There wasn't any reply to the text he sent previously about his late night and no
calls. His brow furrowed with worry.
Meanwhile, inside Jessica's cubicle, silence reigned. Her head still throbbed faintly, though the intensity of the
earlier storm had eased.
She rubbed her temple, steadying her breath. Richard sat close beside her, still studying her pale face, his worry
etched deep across his face.
"You almost scared me," he said quietly.
Jessica gave a weak smile. "I scared myself. It was like... something trying to break through. But I still couldn't
remember anything... even after the pain." She sighed in frustration and helplessness.
After a brief explanation from Richard, she had been able to make a few deductions about the situations and
what she experienced.
She felt frustration gnawing at her. She really wanted to remember everything...her marriage, her past, every
moment she had lost and how far she had gone.
Subconsciously, it felt like those memories were what she had always longed for, was what she ever wanted. Yet
her conscious mind warned her otherwise.
Though everyone had told her, "Take it easy, you will build a new memory together."
But none of them knew what it meant to dangle in a void. None of them understood the ache of a missing piece
of one's soul.
None of the speaker had ever experienced to know how it felt;
Not knowing what to do
Who to believe
And more importantly what to be wary of. Jessica had never felt a frustrating moment in her life like now...
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhether sweet or bitter memory, not recalling them shouldn't be a situation one should pray to find oneself in.
Her eyes slowly drifted toward the door where the attendants had passed moments ago, carrying away the
necklace. "That piece...."
Richard tilted his head hesitantly. "What was it that attracted you to that piece?" He asked carefully.
Maybe thinking about it might help her, or give her a breakthrough into recalling what she had seen from her
memory.
But Jessica shook her head, her frustration etched across her face threatening to drown her. she closed her eyes
hoping to hold herself together not to unravel.
Richard sighed, but didn't press further. "Let's go, it's getting." He said.
"Sure." Jessica clipped.
Quietly, they both made their way out of the auction.
"I hope | won't be running into the reporters this time," Jessica murmured.
She might have successfully avoided them earlier and also at this moment she doesn't have the plan to meet
them either.
"They're too busy wondering about the buyer of the necklace," Richard replied with a small grin.
Stepping out of the Grand Hall, the cool night washed over, calming her nerves.
Without a second glance, she walked over to her car when she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Sis," the voice called softly and skeptically.
Jessica's and Richard halted in their actions, slowly they turned around and their gaze settled on Julian who was
striding over to them in quick stride.
"I wasn't sure it was you," Julian admitted, glancing around. "You cfor the auction?"
He had hoped that seeing Jessica meant Davis was close by especially after he splurged such amount of money
over that piece of necklace.
He wanted to probe her for Davis or inform her he was in the auction hall, but that should be wrong, right?
On second thought, he decided against it.
Jessica nodded without offering a comment.
She always found herself at a loss matching Julian's enthusiasm anytthey'd met.
Just like Davis, her subconscious never abhorred his presence, but then she found her zeal not matching up.
"An item got your attention?" She asked, hoping to divert his attention to the auction.
Julian nodded. His brow tightened a bit before releasing again. "Jessica... | would have called, but since you're
here..." He hesitated, then added, "Can we visit Mom tomorrow?"
Though fate hadn't let him truly meet this sister and establish a beautiful reunion before everything was reverted
back to the beginning, he still hoped something could be done.
Jessica's brow furrowed lightly in thought, no clear recall of the last tshe really visited her mom.
"Alright," she chimed.
"Schedule a tand senda text." She clipped. "I've to run along now. Been out for a long while."
Julian nodded and stepped back, letting her board the car while he silently watched the car pull away from the
auction house merging with the busy traffic.
In the back seat, Jessica had her head on the headrest, her eyes closed.
"Richard, | want a report...of everything before my accident...during, after and possibly any other information
that would be necessary." She said instructed calmly.
Richard's stiffened, his breath caught. "Are... you trying to..." he started.
"Cut the crap," she interrupted, her voice cold and determined.
Richard swallowed hard. He couldn't get any of these reports without Davis and the doctor's consent.
At the tof her waking up with memory loss, the Dean had advised not forcing due to her health to avoid
more damage.
Davis had agreed to the advice for fear of whatever outcome.
He preferred she remembers them naturally. With that, he had carefully handled every report about the accident.
But knowing Jessica, she had never followed the rules, and giving him such a daunting task, Richard shivered.
"I'll also need photos and videos. As much as you can get your hands on," she added firmly.
"Jessica, can you be more patient? Let nature handle this course or...possibly....let Davis give you the report..."
"Davis?" Her eyes snapped open, cold. "Do you think he'd giveanything? He never believed | could handle
the pain." she almost screamed.
Richard sighed. "In his place, I'd feel the same."
Her voice sharpened. "Richard, If you're not getting it for me... | don't mind getting it myself....not like | can't
anyway."
He swallowed. "Fine. I'll have them for you... next week."
Her gaze hardened. "Are you by any means... testing my patience? | need every damn shit of whatever
happened in twenty-four hours."
"What?" Richard shrieked, choking on his breath.
He was grateful he wasn't the driver, otherwise he might have slammed the car against another.
Jessica sat up, her eyes piercing him. "Maybe twenty-four is too long. Twelve hours should be enough."
He exhaled heavily. "Fine. Twenty-four hours," he muttered in defeat.
Pulling out his phone, he began typing a message to Davis, hoping to inform him of his wife's requests.
Jessica's voice snapped again. "Richard, | gave you an instruction. Not a report to my husband."
Richard rubbed his temple lightly.

Richard was silent.
"And if you tell him," she continued, "do you still think he would let you givethe information | asked?"
He met her gaze, defeated. "Jessica, the Davis | know would give you the stars if you asked."
"And if you can convince him," he continued "giving you that document would be a piece of cake and much
