Girl Get Ride 93

Chapter 93

Elliott had spent the entire day on edge, practically camping out in Allison's office. She tried every trick in the

book-pleading, flattering, you nit—but Allison wouldn't budge on dropping the case. Elliott was just about

ready to get down on her knees and beg.

“Allison, please, let's just put this behind us. Please letoff the hook, I'm begging you. If | get convicted and

lose my license, my career as a lawyer is over!

“Allison, please drop the lawsuit. I'll do anything you ask!"

Allison gave her a cool, measured look. "I don't need anything from you. Ms. Elliot, there are tons of other

professions out there. Getting disbarred isn't the end of the world. If law doesn't work out, try something else."

Allison gave Elliott a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Good luck! | believe in you!"

After work, Allison trailed behind her colleagues as they left the firm.

Out of nowhere, a coworker nudged her sleeve. "Whoa, check out the guy over there! Total heartthrob!"

A few others were whispering as they stared in the sdirection.

Allison followed their gaze and froze. It was Joshua.

Tall, handsome, broad-shouldered with long legs-Joshua was the epitof style. He wore a simple black Armani

coat that looked even better on him than on a runway model.

He was leaning against his car, phone in hand. It was late autumn, and the early evening darkness was

brightened by streetlights. From where she stood, Allison could see his sharp profile and high-bridged nose,

softened by the warm glow of the lights.

As if sensing her attention, Joshua looked up and met her gaze. He ended his call and started walking towards

her.

The coworkers beside Allison got all flustered. "Oh my gosh, he's headed this way."

"I'm so nervous. | wish I'd put on smakeup today. | feel too plain to be approached by such a good- looking

guy. What a bummer."

"Don't worry, even with makeup, we wouldn't stand a chance. A guy like that is out of our league."

In a few strides, Joshua was standing right in front of Allison. She could hear the collective gasp from her

colleagues.

"Brian's throwing a get-together, and Olivia and Sabrina are there too. I'm here to pick you up," Joshua said, his

deep, sultry voice even more captivating when he spoke softly.

Her colleagues exchanged looks of surprise.

Allison smiled and introduced him, "This is my fiancé."

Their eyes widened in disbelief. Rumor had it that Allison's "sugar daddy,” the one with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan,

was an old, unattractive man. But the guy standing before them, nearly six foot three and strikingly handsome,

was more charismatic than any TV star.

At that moment, everyone silently agreed that rumors were just rumors and should not be taken seriously. Her

colleagues showered Joshua with compliments and wished the couple well.

In the private room, Allison recounted her day at the firm to Joshua.

"Do you know why they were so shocked to see you?” Allison said. "Someone sawgetting out of your car and

started a rumor that | was with an old, unattractive sugar daddy."

Joshua's eyes narrowed. “Rumors?”

"Yeah," Allison replied casually. "But I've handled it, so don't worry."

"What? Someone actually spread that nonsense about you?" Brian chimed in, shocked. “Allison, why didn't you

tell us you were being messed with?"
