Rhett saw Everett too and couldn't help but scowl. It wasn't that he lacked manners; it was just that Mr. Everett had an uncanny ability to show up uninvited every tRhett managed to get salone twith Selena. He was about ready to develop PTSD from it.

Selena's face was icy as she firmly told him, "This isn't a good time." She glanced around the restaurant, noticing plenty of empty tables and private booths. Why did he have to crowd in on them? Rhett chimed in quickly, "Mr. Everett, there's an open seat right next to ours. Why not sit over there?" Everett ignored him, dragging a chair over and plopping down right beside Selena. His arm draped over the back of her chair, a not-so-subtle claim of territory.

Rhett's eyes widened, almost grinding his teeth, "Mr. Everett, what's your ghere?" Everett cracked a smile, "Rhett, this is your turf, and I've call the way from Newport. As the local, shouldn't you be extending shospitality? Besides, I've got quite the rapport with your family." Rhett was left speechless. He'd never encountered someone so brazen. Here was the head honcho of Bennett Corporation, Newport's top dog, acting like a complete cad.

Everett couldn't care less about Rhett's opinion. All he knew was that whatever happened between him and Selena was their business, and he wasn't about to let someone else muscle in.

Selena had had enough, "Everett, stop it already!" She was fed up with his antics. Rhett, despite his good intentions, was no match for Everett's audacity. This meal was doomed with Everett's presence; eating would be a chore, not a pleasure.

Looking at Rhett apologetically, Selena said, "I'm really sorry, but could you head back? I promise I'll make it up to you with another meal soon, okay?" Rhett didn't want to leave, but with Selena's pleading eyes, he couldn't say no. He asked, concerned, "Will you be alright on your own?" He still worried Everett might overstep his bounds. Selena smiled reassuringly, "I'll be fine, don't worry. Once I get this sorted, we'll catch up." Rhett sighed, "Alright then." As he started to leave, Everett called out, "Rhett." Rhett turned, his gaze icy, "What now?" Everett, with a mischievous grin, said, "Just your flowers..." He nodded towards them, "Don't forget to take them with you." Rhett grabbed the bouquet and stormed off in frustration. Once he was out of sight, Selena turned to Everett, noting his smug grin. She scoffed, "Happy now?" Everett met her gaze with a smirk, "Not too shabby."

Selena couldn't be bothered with him anymore. She grabbed her purse and stood up, her heels tapping sharply on the flora's if she could pierce right through it. Everett sensed her anger, but followed her out, catching up and gently grabbing her wrist at the door.

She tried to jerk her hand free, but his grip held firm. With people watching, dock from making a scene.
