Chapter 940 Selena gently furrowed her brow, feeling a bit uneasy. She had always believed that the best way to handle being an ex was to steer clear and not disrupt each other's lives. Yet, despite her initial reservations, she found herself warming up to Mila. Unlike Everett's previous partners, Mila had never caused any or chaos in front of her.

Now that Mateo was spending most of his twith Everett, Selena knew that once Everett and Mila tied the knot, her son would inevitably have to spend twith Mila too. For Mateo's sake, Selena realized it was crucial to at least keep things civil with Mila.

Living in Newport meant she couldn't avoid these social gatherings. Maintaining her composure and dignity was better than hiding away, preventing any gossip that could affect her kids. With a resigned smile, she agreed, "Alright, I'll be there." Mila was thrilled. "Great! I'll send over the invitation soon. Looking forward to having you." After hanging up, Selena returned to trimming her flowers. Ava, who had overheard the conversation, brought over a fruit platter. "Are you sure about attending that New Year's Eve party, ma'am? Who knows what that woman might be planning?" Selena chuckled, "We'll deal with whatever comes our way." She paused, pondering, "But there's something about this Ms. Ruby... she seems different and oddly familiar." Ava asked, "Familiar how?" Selena thought back, "She kind of remindsof... Carolina." "Really?" Ava mused before adding, "I bet Carolina picked a debutante who looks like her. She's always been a bit full of herself." Laughing, Selena replied, "Well, you've got a point there." She placed the freshly trimmed flowers into a vase with care and said, "Go ahead and put these away." Ava exaggerated her praise, "Your taste is improving, ma'am. Who knows, maybe the little one you're expecting will grow up to be an artist." Selena smiled softly, her hand resting on her growing belly.

Before she knew it, New Year's Eve had arrived. At eight o'clock, Selena pulled up to Lakeside Mansion, holding Haley's hand. Her daughter looked like a fairy tale princess in her fluffy dress, her hair styled perfectly with a tiny crown, capturing everyone's hearts with her delicate features.

Entering the ballroom, Selena noticed the intimate guest list composed mostly of Everett's close business associates and friends. She couldn't help but think that Ms. Ruby, carefully chosen by both Carolina and Everett, certainly seemed more poised than Everett's previous partners. Logically, having someone like Mila as Everett's second wife meant Mateo wouldn't be mistreated. Yet, emotionally, it was hard not to feel a bit unsettled. Love, once tangled, isn't easy to unravel.

Everett looked especially handsin his sleek black suit, his leaner fronly adding to his charm. His sharp jawline exuded confidence, making him stand out in the crowd.

Mila, in her elegant gown with her hair styled gracefully, exuded warmth and poise, resembling @young Carolina at first glance. Watching them together, Selena felt a tug at her heart but quickly pushed it aside.

Everett, sensing Selena's gaze, turned and was momentarily taken aback by her beauty. Leaning towards Mild, he e whispered with a hint of frustration, "You insisted on having this party here and invited Selena. What's your gplan?"
