Chapter 567

Jude must have introduced Yolanda to Alfred beforehand; otherwise, Alfred wouldn't have agreed to let her treat

him.

Even Yolanda had to admit that many people tend to judge others by their appearance. While such prejudice

didn't necessarily reflect a person's character, it was still unpleasant.

In her previous life, the former Miss Hoffman was a young prodigy who treated patients at an age even younger

than the original owner of her current body.

Back then, as the eldest daughter of the prestigious Henderson family, she commanded respect—even from

those who doubted her skills. People dared not openly question her abilities.

Eventually, her exceptional medical expertise silenced the skeptics. Those who had doubted her learned their

lesson and never underestimated her again.

Now, however, now that she was reborn as a girl from an ordinary family in a small city, things were entirely

different.

Yolanda could understand why others might be cautious, but she refused to tolerate behavior that trampled on

her dignity. In her experience, those who maliciously insulted her or doubted her abilities had all paid a price.

This time, she was curious to see if Alfred Kaufman, the head of the Kaufman family, would prove to be another

shallow individual who judged by appearances.

Before long, Jude led Yolanda into the Kaufman family's reception hall.

At the center of the room, on a mahogany couch, sat an elderly man with graying hair. He wore reading glasses

and was engrossed in the morning newspaper.

This man was Alfred Kaufman, the current head of the family and the father of Jude and Joel.

"Dad, I've brought Ms. Henderson over," Jude said as he approached Alfred. His voice was filled with concern.

"How are you feeling today?"

"My chest still feels a bit tight," Alfred replied while setting the newspaper aside. His gaze turned to Yolanda. He

began scrutinizing her with unreserved curiosity.

"So, you're Yolanda?"

"Yes, Mr. Kaufman Senior."

Yolanda nodded slightly. Her demeanor was calm and poised. There was no sign of timidity often seen in younger

people meeting Alfred for the first time. Nor did she show the exaggerated enthusiasm others might use to win

his favor.

Her attitude was composed and respectful-reminiscent of how she once treated the elders of her family.

Alfred was taken aback by her composure. Most young people he encountered either fumbled nervously in his

presence or tried too hard to appear lively and engaging.

Yet, Yolanda's presence gave him a faint sense of being on the back foot. It made Alfred wonder if the

information he had on her wasn't as thorough as he had thought.

"I heard about how you saved Jude," Alfred said. "The Kaufman family owes you

a favor. If you ever need our help, don't hesitate to ask."

Yolanda noted the subtle shift in his attitude but kept her expression neutral.

"It was a small matter, Mr. Kaufman Senior. There's no need to dwell on it," she replied evenly.

When he sensed an opening, Jude stepped in. "Dad, | invited Ms. Henderson here today to help treat your

illness."

Although Jude had mentioned this idea before, Alfred hadn't taken it seriously.

As expected, Alfred shot Jude a meaningful glance before turning back to Yolanda. "Young lady, it's not that |

doubt your abilities. It's just that | know my condition. It's hard to cure..."

His words weren't intended to discredit Yolanda's skills.

Alfred had struggled with heart problems for years, seeking treatment to no avail. With age, he had cto

terms with the inevitability of life and death.
