And if that didn’t work out, she had her other friends in her back pocket.
Alan pressed his lips into a tight line. He really wanted to tell her—even Ethel wouldn't have tto help her.
“Is there no wiggle room?” Alan asked, his voice soft and uncertain.
“It’s all locked in,” Freya replied confidently, unbothered by the chance he might spill her secret. “Everything's
ready, and pushing it back would stir up a mess.”
