Chapter 1164:
Alan replied, “You too—let’s both do our best!”
Luckily, Freya had messaged Alan the second she was back in her room—if she hadn't, the whole scheme
would've unraveled. If Alan had seen Ellis’'s message out of the blue, he probably would've just assumed Ellis
had sent it to the wrong person and answered with a string of confused question marks.
Seeing the reply, Ellis tossed his phone onto the bed and headed off to wash up. Meanwhile, after freshening up,
Freya lay in bed still buzzing with nerves. To ease the tension, she messaged Riley and Greta, filling them in on
everything. When they found out she’d managed to tell such a massive lie right to Ellis’s face, they both fired
back the sword—"Legendary.”
Greta said, “If it were anything else, he would've caught you in a second.”
Riley said, “Totally. That story had way too many holes. Guess even the smartest guys get a little slow when it
comes to love.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtReading their messages, Freya frowned. She knew her version was shaky—but too many holes?
Greta said, “You should've gone with a better cover. It would've sounded way more solid.”
Freya asked, “What kind of version?”
Riley replied, “Say Alan’s old crush cback and secretly asked you to test him—if he still had feelings for her,
she'd propose. If not, she'd leave him be.”
Greta added, “That way, Alan not helping with Ellis’s proposal would make a lot more sense.”
The second Greta hit send, she realized her mistake—and immediately yanked the message back.
Luckily, Freya never saw the retracted message.
She was still staring at Riley’s suggestion, working through the logic and comparing it with her own version,
trying to see which made more sense. Once she finished analyzing it, she glanced back at her phone but said
nothing about the missing message.
She figured Greta had just messed up a word or two.
Panicking, Greta messaged Riley in private. “You don’t think Freya saw that, right? If Ellis ever found out, she'd
be toast. That one stupid message nearly blew the whole thing apart.”

Riley answered, “Hang on. I'll throw a cover message in the group. If she doesn’t react, we're good.”
Greta responded, “Never doing this again. Being trusted by both sides is a ticking tbomb. I'm bound to slip.”
Riley reassured her. “Calm down,
You'll be fine.” The 2artnts on
