Chapter 1166:
The moment he stepped inside, he spotted a solitary figure standing by the window, melting into the shadows
like he belonged there.
Felipe set a bottle of whisky down on the table and strolled over. “Chave a drink. What's so captivating out
there?”
“Did you find out the time?”
Kristian said nothing more. Felipe was supposed to confirm the tEllis planned to propose. If he knew nothing,
why was he here?
“Why do you need to know, anyway?” Felipe asked while pouring himself a glass, casting a sideways glance at
Kristian. “Don’t tellyou're planning to crash it?”
It was a lighthearted jab. He knew Kristian far too well to believe he'd actually do something like that.
Kristian hadn’t known how to love someone before—but he'd changed. He wouldn't hurt Freya again.
Sometimes, Felipe wished Kristian would just be a little more selfish and keep Freya by his side, cwhat may.
But Kristian would never cross that line.

Kristian stayed quiet. He wouldn't stir up trouble. He knew Freya didn’t want to see him, and he understood all
too well that his presence might disturb whatever peace she had with Ellis. So he wouldn't appear. He just
wanted to hide himself in the crowd, catch a glimpse of her—to see if she was happy.
“Don’t bottle it all up,” Felipe said, handing him a glass in hopes of drawing him out. “I don’t know the exact
time, but | do have sgood news.”
“What is it?” Kristian asked.
“Have a drink and Ill tell you.”
“I don’t drink anymore.” His voice, as ever, was clipped and concise.
Once, he'd believed that drinking could take the edge off. But in the end, he'd realized it only dulled the pain
temporarily. It didn’t fix anything. He'd rather stay sober—and remember. Even if every memory cut like glass.
“You're no fun.” Felipe set the untouched glass down and continued, “Farrah’s going out tomorrow night. My
guess is Ellis plans to propose then.”
“| see.” Kristian was expressionless, and his chest tightened with a sudden ache.

Felipe tried to lighten the weight in the room with a joke. “That's all you've got to say?”
“Thank you.”
“That's it?”
Kristian turned to look at him. His eyes were sharp and unclouded. If Felipe wanted something, he'd just have to
nit—Kristian wasn’t about to play guessing games.
