Eloise kept her silence for a while.

But Harvey had enough patience. He gently said again, "I'll pick you up tonight."

After a bit, Eloise agreed to him.

She knew that if Harvey really wanted something, he would go all out for it.

He was trying to deepen their relationship, trying his best to please her. She didn't understand how he knew

women so well, but when he started pursuing her, she knew she couldn't resist.

That night was more romantic and exciting than any they'd had before.

He had a court case in the morning, so he left quickly.

Vanessa handle it all on her own, so she got up after a bit more rest.

Eloise tied up her long hair and put on a pair of pearl earrings.

After doing her makeup, Eloise blushed as she looked at herself in the mirror.

Was she overthinking it, or was she purposefully dressing to Harvey's taste? She knew what kind of woman he

liked, and she knew he would especially like the way she looked now...

She got herself together and went downstairs, ready to leave.

It was an important day for her. Her father and Michelle were going to be there, and Harvey also said he wanted

to meet them. Although she tried to keep her emotions in check, she knew she was kind of looking forward to it.

Maybe, Harvey's attitude towards her had changed.

Maybe, he was serious this time...

Eloise texted him from the car.

[I'm heading to the hotel now, letknow when you get there.]

Michelle breathed a sigh of relief.

Eloise didn't say anything, but her eyes and expression showed the charm of a woman who's loved by a man.

Michelle, being experienced, knew better than to ask further.

At this moment, Vanessa cover with a gift list in her hand.

"There are two gifts that | think you should know about."

Eloise took the list, "What's the problem?"

But after looking at it, she fell silent.

One was a bottle of wine from Max, worth $500,000.

The other was a rose quartz ornament from Landon, also worth $500,000.

Vanessa cleared her throat, "Did they coordinate on this, or is it a competition to see who can give the most

expensive gift?"

Eloise thought for a moment, "These gifts are too expensive. I'll refund them later."

"I'll make up an excuse for your dad. Eloise... don't overthink it."

Eloise quietly acknowledged.

Michelle left.

Eloise was still on the balcony. After a moment of hesitation, she dialed Denise's number.

Denise was surprised to get her call.

"Attorney Horigan left at eight-thirty."

Eloise thanked her.

She thought, maybe Harvey got stuck in traffic...

She was still holding onto hope, hoping that he would show up at this important moment and say to her,

"Congrats, Eloise"

But he didn't...

The lively banquet went on until half past ten. As guests started to leave, even Angus and Michelle left under

arrangement, yet Harvey still hadn't shown up.

His phone was still off.

Eloise knew about Harvey's job and his cautious personality, he hardly ever turned off his phone.

She had a bad feeling, but she didn't want to believe it.

They've been getting along so great these days, she didn't want to think about him ruining their harmony

because of other stuff... she thought, when they meet later, they gotta have a good talk.

Eloise and Vanessa finally took off.

When they got in the car, a bolt of lightning suddenly flashed across the sky.

The night sky lit up instantly, as if a hole had been torn open, it was breathtaking.

The rain, it was pouring down...

Eloise dialed Harvey's number again.

Still off.

She lowered her head, started the car...

The rain was getting heavier.

The wipers were swinging non-stop, the front was foggy, Eloise felt a little messed

up inside, driving in this weather was risky.

Joan was running recklessly in the rainy night! About ten seconds later, Harvey

got out of the car, he walked briskly a few steps to catch up with Joan, pulled her into his arms.
