Chapter 294

At the break of dawn, the sunlight was weak.

Eloise's face appeared unusually pale, but her expression was notably calm. "Sign it." She said.

Harvey watched her. After a long while, he gently closed the door, walked over to pick up the document, and

whispered, "Eloise... yesterday was an accident. | promise that woman won't appear in front of Linda again."

Eloise gave a faint, cold laugh. She no longer wished to hear his promises. All she wanted now was to protect her

children.

She spoke again, her tone still calm, "Once you've signed, and once Linda has calmed down a bit, I will move out

with the kids."

Eloise was still distressed. When she first moved here, she had harbored shope. She thought that in a big

family, Harvey could feel the warmth of a home. But perhaps she was wrong from the start. When he had

abandoned his family to rescue Monika, she should have given up on him completely.

Harvey watched her, noticing her moist eyes. The document in his hand was tossed back onto the coffee table.

He went to the closet to change his clothes but couldn't find anything suitable after a while.

In the end, he stood inside the closet, talking to Eloise outside, "Do you think | have no feelings for you at all?

But Eloise...if | really didn't like you, why would | move back with you?" He still refused to accept the divorce and

sign the documents.

"Eloise, don't you love me?"

Eloise quietly replied, "I can't anymore, Harvey. | just want to live a peaceful life."

Harvey had already put on his shirt. He abruptly took it off, threw it aside, and put on another one. After trying

several times, he finally cout. He looked at her and said softly, "I will not agree to a divorce."

Eloise lowered her eyes and gave a faint smile. "I will find a way. Harvey, if you don't sign this, don't blme

for coming after your girl."

Harvey gave a cold laugh, "She isn't, but you are."

Eloise scoffed. This joke was not funny at all.

She turned around and left, not looking back. The door slammed shut with a loud bang.

Before Harvey left, he went to check on Darrien. The nanny was feeding Darrien milk, and he couldn't help but

ask, "Isn't Eloise usually the one feeding him in the morning?"

Her milk had always been plentiful. There was always more than enough for Darrien.

The nanny looked awkward and whispered, "Last night, Mrs. Horigan suddenly dried up. There wasn't a drop left.

We don't know what happened." Harvey was taken aback.

Eloise had only given birth to Darrien three months ago, hadn't she? How could she have dried up already?

He held Darrien for a while, didn't say much, but thought that he should have a good talk with Eloise in the

evening...about their marriage and two children.

At eleven in the morning.

When the court session ended, Harvey walked out of the courthouse. In front of his car, stood a miserable-

looking girl, her body covered in blood. Her exposed skin showed several blue and purple bruises - clear signs

that she had been beaten up.

Monika trembled as she spoke, "Attorney Horigan, please plead for Mrs. Horigan for me. Givea way out.

Yesterday, | just wanted to keep the kid company, | didn't mean to do it, I didn't know she was sick."

Harvey opened the car door and tossed his briefcase inside. When he looked at Monika again, he lit a cigarette.

"Why did you go to the kindergarten to find my daughter?"

Monika shrank back. After a while, she spoke softly, "Attorney Horgan, you were different tothat night you

tookhome, weren't you? | know you like my face. It's so much like my sister's..."

Harvey slowly exhaled a ring of smoke. He looked at her, his tone cold. "Maybe your face remindsof

something, but it's definitely not something pleasant. Besides, what makes you think you have the right to

disturb Linda?"

So she had been taught a lesson, and Harvey did not feel any pity towards her. He wasn't a man who messed

around, but he was adept at dealing with the subtle nuances between mature men and women.

That night in the car, when she leaned in, he gently turned her down. He believed a sensible young girl should

know they had no future.

Monika's face turned even paler, and her injured body shivered. Now, she was at her wit's end. The school had

expelled her and the landlord wanted to sell the house. Soon she would be sleeping on the streets. She told him

about her plight, hoping he would feel sorry for her.

Harvey flicked the ash off his cigarette. His tone was very light, "If you're willing to leave Peterborough, you can

go to Denise to pick up a check for 200,000."

Monika's face turned white as a sheet. This was not the result she wanted. She wanted be his mistress, and then,

his wife.

She bit her lip, tears filling her eyes. "Attorney Horigan, | didn't want to be with you because of money. | just

genuinely like you... You were my brother-in-law. So you really not have any feelings for me?"

Brother-in-law...

Denise, who was standing to one side, rolled her eyes, reminding her kindly, "Ms. Joan was married once before.

Her ex-husband was Mr. Livio."

Monika's face turned red with embarrassment. Now she had lost all dignity, hoping to use sunspeakable

relationship to stimulate Harvey's possessiveness.

But Harvey had no such feelings for her. Men always compared women. Compared to Eloise's richness, Monika

was dry as a bone. Any man who wasn't blind would know who he'd rather hold.

Harvey didn't dwell on this for too long. He left with one sentence, "I'm giving you three days to think about it."

He got in the car, his thoughts turning to Eloise. He didn't feel sorry for Monika, but he felt that Eloise was acting

a lot like how he used to be, not leaving any room for negotiation.

Harvey thought of the mother and daughter in Rossland, and he was angry again. He knew that Eloise's revenge

on Monika was half out of anger, and the other half to provoke him, to force him to sign the divorce papers. He

couldn't help but

wonder, was she really in such a hurry to leave him?

Was there someone waiting for her? Max, or Gerald?

In the afternoon, he drove back to the Horigan Mansion. He knew that Eloise was

at hwith Linda.

Linda was napping. Harvey gently touched her warm little face and asked the maid, "Where's Eloise?"

The maid answered carefully, "Mrs. Horigan is in the gym in the basement."

At such a time, she was still in the mood to work out. Harvey slipped off his suit jacket, making his way down to

the basement.

Eloise was exactly where he expected.

The soft music, the enticing sway of her body, and the daily sight of the divorce papers - they all stirred

something inside Harvey.

He approached, turning the music up a notch. Eloise paused, turning to face him. "Back so soon? Are you here to

sign the papers?"

Harvey closed the distance. With one swift move, he hooked his arm around her slim waist, pulling her into his

embrace.

He lowered his head, capturing her lips in a searing kiss. Her body was soft, and her skin was slick with sweat.

Harvey's hands roamed, whispering provocative words as he kissed her, "You think beating her up will make me

leave you, don't you? What makes you think | want her? If we are to compare, I'd rather spend every night with

you. Don't you remember how gentle and obedient you are when we're together?

"It's been months since we last had sex... | guess you've forgotten.

"Letremind you."

Harvey was dominant, and Eloise found herself pushed onto the plush sofa. Her head buried in the fabric, she

felt his relentless thrust, her protests barely audible.

Harvey bit her earlobe, murmuring, "This is heavenly."

They were at the Horigan Mansion. Eloise couldn't scream out loud and risk the embarrassment, and the Horigan

elders were taking their afternoon nap. Uncomfortable, she turned her face away, her temples a tempting shade

of light

blue.

That was Harvey's favorite spot. When Eloise was aroused, that shade of blue was more pronounced. He paused,

his long fingers tracing that spot, panting. "You're still my wife, Eloise. As long as | don't sign those papers, you'll

remain Mrs. Horigan."

He claimed her with unabashed boldness, over and over. Perhaps it was the prolonged absence, but he was

insatiable, keeping Eloise trapped under him for more than three hours.

When it was over, he still held onto her, not letting go until they both cooled down.

Eloise, having been tormented for hours, had finally regained sstrength. She kicked him lightly, her voice on

the verge of tears. "Have you had enough? If you're done, get out."

Harvey lowered his head, finding her lips for another kiss. After a while, he murmured, "That's a good girl."

Eloise pushed him away. She sat up, not caring about her disheveled state, her fingers gently combing through

her chestnut hair. Despite her shaky voice, she tried to sound indifferent. "Harvey, do you think that a few hours

of sex would makechange my mind? That | would be submissive to you? You're overestimating yourself."

They'd made love, but the divorce was still happening.

With that, she walked straight into the shower, washing away any traces of him. When she returned, Harvey had

put his shirt and trousers back on, though they were slightly wrinkled. He watched her, asking quietly, "Why are

you changing? Planning to go out?"

Eloise picked up her phone from the sofa, heading for the door. He caught up, asking where she was going.

Eloise shook off his hand. "To buy the morning-after pill. Harvey, you think I'd have another child for you?"

Her period had just ended yesterday. It wouldn't be long before she was due again, and his actions today could

very well result in a pregnancy.
