Chapter 1745
Aurora laid into Craig the moment she walked in, her words sharp and relentless. For a guy that tall, he looked
incredibly small, shoulders hunched, staring at the floor, taking her lecture without a single word of protest.
She let out a long breath, trying to calm herself. Turning around, she realized Quentin had already slipped out.
Rubbing her temples, Aurora felt a headache coming on.
"I was trying to drive you home, and you went and got a fever halfway there! You were practically delirious-I
didn't have a choice but to bring you to the hospital! Do you have any idea how heavy you are? There's no way |
could move you by myself. | had to call someone for help!"
If anyone else had been available, she wouldn't have called Quentin. It wasn't about jealousy or anything like
that—she just didn't want Craig running into people from her new life after the divorce. She felt like the two of
them should stay out of each other's worlds now. That was how it was supposed to be.
"I don't like him," Craig muttered after a long silence.

"He just helped out, that's all! Whether you like him or not isn't the point. If you think I shouldn't have called
Quentin, then fine-I'm sorry, okay? You're awake now, you can call your own friends to help. I'm leaving."
But as Aurora turned to go, Craig grabbed her wrist and held on tight, refusing to let go. The spot where the IV
had been was bleeding again, a bright red dot blooming on his pale skin.
"Let go, Craig!"
"No."
Her brows knit in frustration. "You're bleeding, can't you see that? Doesn't it hurt?"
"No. Not as much as watching you leave."
She sighed, exasperated, but grabbed a napkin from the bedside table, pressing it against his hand to stop the
blood.
Craig stayed silent, lips pressed in a stubborn line, still refusing to let go. He didn't care what she did he just
wouldn't release her.
They'd been married, after all. Aurora had yelled because she was scared, because he never seemed to care
about his own health. But now that her anger was fading, she recognized that this was just Craig being Craig-
stubborn as ever, just like the day she met him
"Con, Craig. Stop. Hurting yourself won't help anyone. If Mom were watching
from above, she'd be heartbroken."
He just looked down, saying nothing.
"Please, just be good for once, okay? I'll get the doctor to put your IV back in, and I'll stay with you for a while.
Then I'll head over to my mom's and pick up Elijah."
That promise seemed to finally get through to him. He nodded, just once. "Okay."
"Then lay back, don't sit up. Wait here. I'll get the nurse."
His grip on her wrist loosened, just for a second, but then tightened again.
"Aurora, I... | just don't want him to take you away from me."
She rolled her eyes, but her voice was soft. "You know what you should really be worried about? If you keep
being this stubborn, no woman will ever want to date you again."
"I don't need anyone else to like me."
Her tone was gentle but firm. "Craig, | don't want to keep reminding you-we're divorced. You need to move on. |
already have."
Finally, Craig let go.
Aurora stepped out to fetch the nurse. But when she returned, the bed was empty.
All that was left on the nightstand was a blood-stained napkin, stark and accusing.
